Desmond and Freya were married a few months ago and they have recently moved into a new flat. They are both working and have been looking at how they have been spending their money. They want to go on holiday next year, but this could be a problem as they can’t afford it. They realise they will have to save up for this major expense.

They agree they will put money away each week into a savings account where it will earn interest. Desmond normally buys 2 or 3 CDs each week and so he says he will reduce this to just 4 per month, so enabling him to save around £50 per month, whilst Freya will give up smoking and she will also be able to save £50 a month. The money they save will pay for the holiday. |
