problems paying your bills
At some time or other you may have problems paying your bills, normally because you do not have enough money to do so. Sadly, the bills will not go away and trying to ignore them will not help. If you do not pay your bills, the organisation you owe the money to could stop providing you with the service (gas, electricity etc) and is likely to take legal action to recover the money.

If you find you are having problems you would be well advised to:
Work out a budget that will enable you to pay the bill
Decide how much you can afford to pay
Contact the customer services department to discuss the problem with them
See if there are any benefits that may help you to pay the bill
Contact an organisation, such as Citizens Advice Bureau, to see if they can help you
Above all, don’t just ignore the bill – it won’t go away!!!
